We seriously recommend that if you have the money and you LOVE your skiing to give Mica Lodge a go. It’s great as a stand alone holiday but even better if when combined with one of North America's great ski resorts.
Nestled in the heart of the deepest snowpack in British Columbia Heli-Skiing Country, Mica Lodge is minutes away from over 1,000 square miles of unlimited private fresh powder. Mica Heli Guides has secured the exclusive rights to seven valleys offering over 15,000 acres of 2,500 vertical foot 40 degree runs through old-growth forest in Molson Valley, to the dozens of 2,000 vertical foot chutes in the Harvey Valley, to the 4,000 vertical foot Alaskan faces in Hugh Allen Valley. You can powder ski or board for over a week on the freshest, softest dry snow in Canada without ever seeing another set of tracks.
The new million dollar Mica Lodge is located on the west coast of the Kinbasket Lake, so close to the action that it is accessible exclusively by helicopter. Located west of Calgary AB and east of Kelowna BC in the BC Rocky Mountain Range, MHG offers return transfers by air, ground or a combination of both. Once at Mica Village guests will be transferred by helicopter to the remote mountain lodge, where the first run is two minutes away! Tucked away along the coast of one of BC's largest lakes, the lodge offers breathtaking views of the Peaks of the Canadian Rockies back dropped against the waters of the Kinbasket which stretch for 216 km. Stone fireplaces, heated floors, gourmet food, and wrap around balconies with spectacular views from every suite highlight this tremendous home. The Mica Lodge can comfortably sleep as many as twelve, with self generating power, filtered glacier drinking water, satellite Internet and phone access, and a kitchen full of fresh food open every hour of the day.
Lodge Details:Our weather is ideal, providing us with 400 inches of annual snowfall at 6,000 feet. The topography of the Monashee and Selkirk ranges channels storms from the Pacific directly at Mica Creek, the legendary precipitation near Mica Creek pounds us with storms, but cold Rocky Mountain air keeps us clearer and drier. When there are no storms coming in from the west, lake effects from the enormous Kinbasket provide moderate snowfalls on a regular basis. Lake effect snows from the reservoir usually drop the champagne powder that floats on top of the deep snowpack from the Pacific storms.
Safety is always our highest priority and we use only the highest qualified professionals. Our A-Star aircraft are chartered exclusively from Kokanee Helicopters, whose pilots and engineers are some of the best in the industry. Kokanee Helicopters' Revelstoke base manager, Matthew Callaghan, will do the majority of the flying. Matthew currently has over 7000 hours of mountain flying experience. In 1999 he was awarded an accomplished accident free safety award. Matthew is also a certified Parks Canada Mountain Rescue Pilot (and, slightly off the point, is a really nice bloke – and very funny – important if you’re going to spend time together!). The helicopter engineer is a full-time licensed aircraft maintenance engineer for Kokanee Helicopters. He maintains the aircraft to standards that meet or exceed Ministry of Transport regulations, and they systematically inspect each helicopter at the completion of every flight day. Your ski guides are the link between you and your exhilarating, safe experience in the mountains. As a member of the BC Helicopter Skiing and Snowcat Skiing Association, MHG guides are certified members of the UIAGM, the Association of Canadian Mountain Guides (ACMG), and/or the Canadian Ski Guide Association (CSGA). The standards they follow are the most well respected safety practices for ski guiding in the world.
Words alone cannot begin to describe the enormous terrain that awaits you every morning at our doorstep. There are seven different valleys to choose from and there is more than enough terrain in each valley to fill a day's work. Consider the Molson Valley alone, 2,500 vertical feet runs spread across 15,000 acres, which is three times the size of Canada's largest ski resort, Whistler and Blackcomb. Each valley is unique in character, ranging from the Kinbasket Valley with its 3,000 vertical extreme glacier faces to the Dawson Valley face which drops 5,000 feet at a mellow cruising 35 degrees. From bowls and chutes to peaks and glaciers, the seven valleys contribute to the most custom and diverse ski experience of your life.
It is possible to arrange a heli-skiing holiday from 3–7 days for 4–12 people and believe me it will cost you a fortune! (approx £2,000 - £5,500 per person depending on time of year, length of stay and numbers). So if you’ve been looking for a last minute deal on tele-text then this might not be for you! But if you can afford it and you love your skiing then this will definitely tick on of the boxes in your “things to do before I die” list!
We try not to put too much info online as the process of booking can be quite complicated and we would rather talk to you on the phone to fully explain the details, terms & conditions* and price etc etc. Please call WOW Weekends on 08707 476 486.
