Plymouth - City Information

Enjoy a brilliant WOW Weekend in the naval city of Plymouth.

The dockyards support Royal Naval vessels and there's always a ship in town!

Badly bombed in WWII, the city has a modern shopping centre, yet now the old buildings near the docks are being restored.

A University City with theatre and cinemas as well as lots to do and see. Visit the shops at the Barbican, the Pilgrim Fathers left here for the New World in the Mayflower, and the famous statue of Sir Francis Drake on Plymouth Hoe, overlooks Plymouth Sound and Drakes Island. Seamton's Tower shares the site, its base is old Eddystone Lighthouse which was rebuilt in 1881.

There are bridge and ferry crossings into Cornwall over the Tamar, Brunel Railway Bridge, the Royal Albert Bridge and a modern road bridge.

The nightlife in Plymouth can only be describe as manic, the place buzzes as soon as work stops and if there is a Ship in town you’ll find a drunken sailor in every bar.

The city is a truly wonderful place full of character and entertainment, a superb choice of location to spend an energetic weekend.
