Seville is an intimate city bursting with style and energy reflected in the extravagance of its Moorish architecture, the exuberance of its flamenco dancing and the passion of its music. The centre piece of the city is the immense Cathedral Santa Maria de la Sede, its central tower described by the architects to be 'so big that we shall be held to be insane'.
Naturally the views from the top are stupendous and worth the climb, in the olden days the gentry used to be taken up by donkey so instead of stairs there is a spiralling ramp which is a bit kinder to modern day visitors. Seville claims to have invented tapas and after a busy day exploring the palaces and museums there is no better way to unwind than to head for the old quarter of Santa Cruz and indulge!
